Multifunction Printers (July 2008)

I am considering buying a multifunction printer for home use. Currently have an old Panasonic KX-P7100 mono laser printer which does not support Windows Vista and is noisy and slow.

• Either color inkjet, mono laser, or color laser
• Multifunction – print, scan, copy (fax useful but not essential)
• Auto duplexing
• Network ready (Ethernet connection)
• >100 pages document feeder

• Samsung SCX-5530FN (review 1); ~$691 from DMA
• Samsung SCX-4500 multifunction monochrome laser printer (review 1, review 2). Stylish design. Print quality is good; a bit slow; paper catch tray mars the looks; not network ready; better value elsewhere.
